Frequently Asked Questions
What is person-centred therapy?
Person centred counselling is a style of counselling that focuses on a non-judgemental, empathetic space for you to use.
As your therapist I will 'walk' beside you helping you to work through your own issues, building your self- confidence and give you a safe space to un mask. You are the expert on yourself and no-one else knows exactly what its like to be you.
There will be no judgement, no matter what you bring to the session I am here to help you process which will eventually lead you to discover your own abilities and autonomy.
How long does a typical session last?
Our sessions will be 50 minutes and will be weekly unless we have agreed otherwise. It is important to turn up each week as each step you take is a step to steady progress.
Do you offer support for neurodivergent individuals?
Yes, as someone who is neurodivergent myself I understand that we don't want to sit and hold eye contact, or you may want to move around, or use the fidget toys that are available. I believe I create a safe space for neurodivergent adults and young people.
Can I choose between online and face-to-face sessions?
During our contracting we will discuss whether you would like to be face to face or online, to keep consistency I would ask that we stay either online or F2F.
What should I expect in my first session?
The initial session is a gentle introduction. We’ll discuss what brings you to therapy, explore your goals, and answer any questions you may have about the process. It’s an opportunity to ensure we feel like a good match.
